The country has some wonderful contrasts, with picturesque rural landscapes and congested cityscapes. China is a ride of a lifetime for anyone who wants to have an international experience.
OIIE Location
Zhuhai City, in Southern China - an attractive seaside city bordering Macau, houses our OIIE Internship program. The city is a clean, modern and only just across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong.
Zhuhai is a well-planned and beautiful city, and the range of restaurants available is astounding serving food at very low prices. There is something to please everyone in terms of entertainment and activities, including a variety of modern discos and bars, great shopping venues, an amusement park and a water park!
Culture and history is abundant in this city; you can visit a local Chinese tea factory and get acquainted with the hometown of Sun Yat Sen. Hop a train to Shanghai and check out the Bund, or visit Beijing to witness first-hand the fascinating history of the Forbidden City and the Great Wall.

Extra Expenses
You will need to fund your flights, your housing during the PELT teacher training, medical/heath insurance, food and personal living expenses. We have provided some information below to help you estimate your living expenses whilst you are abroad.
On the whole Eastern China is more expensive than the Western part of the country. Visitors to Eastern China could get by on around 50 a day, but you would be pushing it. Budget travelers in western China should be able to keep costs down to 25 per day. One expensive cost to be noted is the long train journeys. Food is cheap, and if you're careful you won't have to spend much more than 7 a day on meals. However, you will be charged the 'tourist price' for most of the time - it's a practice encouraged by the government
