Costa Rica is jewel of Central America’s eye. It's a sea of calm amongst its neighboring countries and an environmental haven. There are miles of coastline, which means brilliant surfing and lots of lazing by the sea.
Costa Rica has a wonderful conservational set-up and so their jungles are the home to all sorts of creatures; monkeys, crocodiles, lizards, poison-dart frogs and an amalgamation of exotic birds, insects and butterflies. Along the coasts endangered sea turtles can be found resting.
There is plenty to do for those who enjoy living on the edge; you can fly through forests on zip lines, peer into boiling volcanoes, surf oversized waves and dive with dolphins and whales. After all the thrills you can lounge in a hammock and enjoy heaven.
OIIE Location
The majority of OIIE’s internships are in San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica. It can feel very much like a North American city at times, with department stores, shopping malls and fast-food chains. However, it does have excellent museums, good restaurants, markets and a wonderful temperature.
The training location is situated in Manual Antonio, a costal area right next to the National Park, located just south of Quepos. It is so popular perhaps because of its expensive white sand beaches backed by an evergreen forest that goes right up to the high tide line. The principal habitants are forest, mangrove swamp, lagoons and beach vegetation. The park includes 12 little isles just off the coast; there are a number of dolphins and, at times, migrating whales can be observed. This really is a wonderful place to study.

Many people think Costa Rica is cheap however it is in fact one of the more expensive Central American countries. Living there can be expensive. It is a country developing at a high speed however there are hotels and food vendors for those paying more attention to what is spent. If you are going to eat low cost meals, you should be able to scrape by on 15-20 a day.
