The Sphinx, the Nile, ancient Luxor, the pyramids - Egypt's scope is glorious. Not only are the tourists drawn to Egypt by these great monuments but also the curiosity and belief held in Christianity and the legacy of the Greeks and Romans.
Modern Egypt is a mix of these legacies and more, crossed with modern influences. Contrasts are colorful in Egypt with mud-brick houses standing next to old ruins surrounded by buildings of glass. Some Egyptians dress in traditional robes, others in Levis and Nike trainers, and city traffic is scattered with donkey-drawn carts and wandering goats. Amongst all this chaos you can find a diver’s heaven, a trek across the sands on a camel or a long lazy ride down the Nile. OIIE Location
OIIE’s base in Egypt is Alexandria which is one of the greatest historical cities. It was founded by the Great Alexander himself and it is the site of one of the wonders of the world.
Since the arrival of a dynamic new city governor in the late 1990s has the city has been spruced up a lot as money has been spent on the place. Buildings have redecorated and modernized, trees planted and public spaces beautified.
