Italy is a dream with glorious landscapes, its age-old history, and culture and cuisine which melts in your mouth.
You can visit Roman ruins, Renaissance art Galleries, stay in medieval hill towns, go skiing in the Alps, explore the canals of Venice and gaze at beautiful churches. And of course you can bath in the rich pleasures of good food, good wine and good fashion.
The food in Italy is something to write home about. The meals go on and on and on with antipasti after antipasti until your sides are ready to split. In all ways Italy is a beautiful country.
OIIE Location
The eternal city of Rome is home to our OIIE program – as well as the Vatican, the Forum, Fiat Bambinos, and the millions of cats in the Coliseum.
Rome equates to history. There is so much to discover and to learn - Etruscan tombs, Republican meeting rooms, imperial temples, early Christian churches, medieval bell towers, Renaissance palaces and baroque basilicas. So take your cultural and historical slice but be sure to leave enough time to eat till you can eat no more, and get drunk on the architecture, the sunshine and of course the good wine.

Italy is hard to get buy on a tight budget because of its prices but also to temptation. Careful backpackers could just get buy on around 40.00 a day if you stay in hostels, make your own sandwiches, avoid going over on the alcohol and don't visit too many museums. If you want comfortable hotels, to eat frequently in restaurants and to visit lots of museums and galleries, you should budget at least 100-150 a day. Your purse could easily be stretched here!
