South Korea, Seoul

South Korea is a country influenced greatly by its neighbors and its modern technology is very impressive. Amongst all the technology, however their impressive landscapes and mountains are beautiful and the Korean people are very proud of their countryside.

OIIE Location

Seoul is an intriguing city going through huge transformation and it now stands as a major city on the international scene, especially in commerce and sports. Dominated by high-rises and 12-lane freeways, it still has a hidden history of temples, palaces, pagodas and gardens.

Seoul is home to 10 million people but it is a safe and friendly city with a low crime rate. The people of Seoul work extremely long hours but they love socializing and are on the whole more than kind to foreign visitors.

Korea is second behind Japan as the most expensive place in the world. The nightlife in Seoul will make a big hole in your pocket if you are not careful, but food is generally quite cheap - US$7 should fill you up. Staying in a hostel or a traditional Korean inn, you might be able to get by on US$30 a day. If you're planning to travel around and would prefer more luxurious accommodation, you should expect to spend much more
