The Kingdom of Thailand is the most popular South-east Asian country for travelers and holiday-makers alike. 

Thailand offers something for every type of visitor; there are the stupa-studded mountains of Mae Hong Son and the relaxing islands, to the bright lights of clubs in Bangkok and the traditional villages moored the Mekong River.

Thailand is a country influenced by Western culture however it has a strong background of traditional Thai beliefs and culture which remain the dominant force in the Kingdom today. The Thai people are some of the friendliest you will ever meet; they are proud of their country and strong in their beliefs, which makes them truly humble and respectful people.

OIIE Location

Our training base for OIIE in Thailand is a small fishing village along the Eastern seaboard, called Ban Phe. Finding it on a map may be hard but once you arrive, you will find a mix of quiet, calm beaches against the small touristy epicenter with the tourists coming in to catch the boat to Ko Samet. You will find this a relaxing place to do your teacher training.

The majority of the Internships in Thailand are centered in and around Bangkok. The capital city has dominated Thailand's urban hierarchy as well as its political, commercial and cultural life since the late 18th century. Bangkok's maze of crazy building planning means you'll have the best experiences in the most unusual of places. Just when you start feeling crushed by the over-bearing concrete and cars, you will turn a corner in to calming temple and feel like you have walked into another world.

You will need to fund your flights, your housing during the PELT teacher training, medical/heath insurance, food and personal living expenses. We have provided some information below to help you estimate your living expenses whilst you are abroad.

Traveling on a budget, 650 baht a day anywhere in Thailand will be sufficient. Visitors staying in comfortable hotels and eating at western restaurants should budget on around 750-1250 baht a day outside Bangkok and around double this amount when in the capital. If there is a limit to your money then you can live on 300 baht a day quite comfortably eating in Thai restaurants and living like a Thai. Your spending levels will be lowered considerably when you leave the touristy places.
